Scientists confirm that the system of identification of the person by ear may someday be used to detect criminals and wanted to justice, and may be used to lock and unlock phones.
Because of the unique privacy of the ear in the human body, it can be used to identify the person, just as with fingerprints that are unique to each person.
Although the ear grows and its shape changes with age, it retains marks in the form of the exterior, which can be used to identify people.
Scientists in the University of Southampton have said this method of identifying people has a number of features, including that the ear has a stable and complex structural structure that is not affected by changes in the face as age increases. The ear also lies in the middle part of the human face, so it becomes easy to predict its surroundings.
Moreover, compared to the iris and the fingerprint, the size of the ear is greater, making the recognition of the person from the shape of his ears, when entering a dark room, for example, comfortable and at a distance without the need for a scan of the eyes.
However, there are reasons why it is difficult to identify a person's identity, such as the ear being covered with hair, for example, or the need to photograph the ear from several different angles of the various documents. So it will be difficult to use the ear image to identify people on a large scale, such as in fingerprints or iris.
